Shawn Foster joined the Fasken team as a student in 2021, while completing his third year of law school at Université Laval.

Anne-Sophie Godbout is a lawyer within the Corporate/Commercial group in the Québec City office. As part of her practice, Anne-Sophie advises clients on their various complex commercial issues.

Brooke Naomi Levy joined the Fasken team as a student in the summer of 2021 after completing her Bachelor of Laws, Cum Laude, at the University of Ottawa. Prior to completing her law degree, Brooke completed a Bachelor of Commerce where she specialized in Finance and had the opportunity to study abroad in Leeds, England.

Roger Kuypers practices in the areas of life sciences, emerging technologies and intellectual property law in Fasken’s Vancouver office. He is the Chair of the region’s Life Sciences industry group and the Intellectual Property practice group. Roger advises businesses and institutions on the development, acquisition and commercialization of technologies. He also assists with corporate matters, finance and acquisitions.

Jason Markwell is a leading intellectual property litigator in Canada. He represents domestic and multinational corporations in a wide-range of industries, including life sciences, technology, financial services, manufacturing, mining and energy. He is well-known for his work on behalf of innovative pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies in patent infringement and regulatory disputes. He also provides advice in regard to the protection and enforcement of trade marks, copyright and trade secrets.

Jules Arsenault joined Fasken in summer 2021 after completing his Bachelor of Laws and MBA at Université de Sherbrooke. Having successfully completed his Barreau du Québec professional training, he is currently working towards a Master of Laws, Taxation option, at HEC Montréal.

Robert Shek’s intellectual property practice is focused on providing strategic guidance in the field of trademarks, copyright and patents.

Alexandra Lemelin joined the Fasken team as a student in May 2021 during her second year of law school at Université de Laval. She will complete her professional training at the École du Barreau in winter 2023.

Michael Shortt is a lawyer and trademark agent. His practice focuses on both litigation and transactional work, with an emphasis on the videogame and artificial intelligence industries. As a member of the Québec and Ontario bars, he advises clients on both common-law and civil-law matters.
